Actor, Model, and Founder
Maryam Basir, who was born and raised in the Midwest, is an accomplished actor and model who has travelled around the world learning many difference cultural customs, social structures and appropriate social behaviors. As a young woman, Maryam followed her dreams and started her career by moving to New York where she was discovered immediately.
Since then Maryam’s work has taken her around the world. She has travelled to Japan, Paris, the South of France, Italy, Switzerland, Thailand, Indonesia, Germany, Lagos, Abuja, Brazil, Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Hawaii and throughout the United States.
Ms. Basir has appeared in films and on television, and in music videos, as well as national and international commercials for major companies. Maryam has also appeared in print with national and international magazines, and in national newspapers and she has been featured on several book covers.
Maryam has appeared on television shows such as Empire, Chicago PD, Detroiters and 30 Rock, and in films with superstars Denzel Washington and Wesley Snipes, while taking direction from famous directors and producers like Ridley Scott, Antoine Fuqua and Oscar winning screen writer of Precious, Geoffrey C. Fletcher.
She has excelled in many areas while perusing her passion for modeling and film acting. She has even performed a dance for the Princess of Afghanistan. She has a natural talent for modeling and an intense passion for acting which she believes is her calling. She continues to be open to delving into new and exciting projects and is dedicated to constantly polishing her craft.

Maryam Basir is now the founder of NOiR Empowerment through Etiquette, a 501c3 nonprofit tax-exempt charitable organization dedicated to helping build strong, confident youth who grow into strong, confident and successful adults. NOiR began in 2015 from the desire to provide constituents with the social skills necessary to face everyday challenging situations with total confidence.
